AMOS # 8

The day of the Lord in the scriptures is a day of vengeance. It is the Day that the LORD brings Justice to a nation, people or town. We have the Day of the LORD that is during the Tribulation time and a Day of the LORD that is at the end of this old earth. For the wicked it is a day of darkness and not light.

Many today say they desire the day of the Lord, but many will find it, as Israelites did, a day of darkness and not light. Some are even looking for the White Throne Judgment with great anticipation; it will be a day of darkness and not light. Pro 29:1 “He, that being often reproved hardeneth [his] neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.” They had taken a resolve that they would not turn at the words of the prophets.

B. They disbelieved the report because it had been told so many times from of old: 2 Pet 3:4

2. They disbelieved the report because they thought the judgment for many days yet: Eze 12:27-28

A. The wicked believes that they have tomorrow and so do not worry about the consequences of their actions.

B. The wicked believes that there will be some kind of loophole for them to slip through, as they make loopholes here of the earth.

3. They disbelieved the report because they thought it be for another time: Eze 12:27

A. àThe wicked believe God’s longsuffering to be weakness.

B. àThe wicked believe God would not dare to judge them.

C. àThe wicked believe that they are not that wicked anyway.

4. They disbelieved the report because they didn’t think they could be hurt: Isa 28:15-19

III. THE DAY OF THE LORD IS A DAY OF DARKNESS AND NOT LIGHT.

B. The Day of the Lord is when the world will be judged: 1 Cor 5:5; 11:32

Am5.20  For the wicked it is a day of judgment and great sorrow, but saints that are in nation that God judges they will suffer also. We are told to pray for our country; (2ti2.2b).

Even, knowing the destruction and the suffering that awaits this old world, we say with John; Are you ready for the justice of God? Do you believe that God will Judge the wicked? Do you think you have plenty of time to get ready? What will the day of the LORD be to you, Light or Darkness?

Jesus will come for His saints and be in glory with Him when the tribulation starts; But on the earth there shall not be a hiding place for those left; (only some Jews).
